The Elements and Principles of Design


 Balance- for every positive their is a negative



 Color-also called a hue
Dominance- can add interest or confusion; something may be used more often than other elements
  Direction- oblique: movement; horizontal: clam; vertical:                                  balance/alertness
      Gradation- adds interest and/or movement
Harmony- similar object and colors that complement each other
Line- linear marks or an edge where to shapes meet
Repetition- to repeat
Shapes- contained closed defined areas
Size- how large an object is to other objects
Texture- physical/visual; surface quality










Unity- visual linking of elements
Value- also called tone; lightness or darkness of color(s)
